Advancing Ethical Career Development Through the Domestic and International Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) Credentials
As a part of its Building Professional Excellence series, the NBCC Foundation invites you to a free webinar on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 1–2 pm EDT. Live webinars are available at no cost, and documentation of 1 clock hour of continuing education is available for registrants who attend the full webinar.
The GCDF credential, first developed in the United States in 1997, has now expanded to 23 countries, strengthening ethical and high-quality career development practice. In Europe, the European Board for Certified Counselors (EBCC) supports the professionalization of Counseling by helping countries establish common standards, ethical expectations, and credentialing pathways. This webinar will examine how the domestic and international GCDF credentials advance professional identity, quality assurance, and ethical service delivery while remaining adaptable to national standards and local workforce needs.
Participants will learn how the GCDF credential supports career development professionals, reinforces ethical decision-making, and helps ensure that clients receive consistent, competent, and meaningful services. The session will also highlight the GCDF credential’s country-specific design, including how curriculum contextualization can align shared professional standards.
Participants will be able to:
- recognize the benefits of obtaining the domestic and international GCDF credentials.
- explain how ethical standards and decision-making support high-quality career development practice.
- describe the status of Counseling professionalization in Europe and EBCC’s role in advancing common standards.
- examine how the GCDF credential can be contextualized to meet country-specific needs.
