The Seven-Pillar Clinical Wellness Framework
The Seven-Pillar Clinical Wellness Framework (SPCWF) moves beyond symptom-focused treatment by integrating wellness science into every phase of the Counseling process. This presentation introduces a framework that organizes clinical assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention, and outcome evaluation around seven interconnected pillars of wellness adapted from SAMHSA's Eight Dimensions of Wellness. The SPCWF provides clinicians with practical decision-making that complements existing evidence-based treatments that can be immediately integrated into clinical work with individuals across the lifespan and various clinical populations. Attendees will explore how wellness can become an organizing principle for clinical decision-making rather than simply an outcome of treatment. The goal is for participants to have a framework for conceptualizing wellness for clients, a method for viewing and treating clients holistically, and to move beyond symptom management toward flourishing.
Participants will be able to:
- describe the core components of the SPCWF and its application in clinical practice.
- understand that the SPCWF is a clinical decision-making framework whose primary purpose is not simply to categorize wellness dimensions but to guide clinicians through assessment, case conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention selection, and outcomes evaluation.
- identify strength-based and evidence-based practices and tools for assessment, intervention, and outcome measures that will impact various pillars and promote multidimensional wellness.
