Who We Are

An affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors, the NBCC Foundation was created in 2005 to harness the knowledge and prestige of NBCC to improve the mental health and well being of all people. As such, the Foundation operates under the NBCC and Affiliates vision of enhancing society worldwide through quality counseling . The mission of the NBCC Foundation is to leverage the power of counseling by strategically focusing resources for positive change.

The Foundation's programmatic priority is to increase counseling and mental health care in under-served and never-served areas both domestically and abroad. See our annual report here.

The Foundation has two programs: Scholarships and Community Capacity Building. Annually, the Foundation awards scholarships to individuals who are pursuing careers in professional counseling, and who commit to serving those in military and/or rural communities for two years post graduation. Further, the Foundation awards grants to organizations implementing the Mental Health Facilitator Program of NBCC International.
